Lightning Class Sailboat - 1975 Allen Hull 12752
Description
Classic fiberglass Lightning sail boat. Build by Allen Boatworks in 1975 (who are still making new Lightnings), this boat is a former past champion of fleet 329 in Annapolis.
The boat is well used but still sails nicely. I kept her in the water the past three years so she has bottom paint. These older boats have foam floatation between the floor and the hull which tends to absorb water over time, so the boat is heavier than the 700lb minimum racing weight.
The boat was updated over time, so it has a similar layout to the newer boats with controls led to both sides (traveler, cunningham, backstay, vang, and twings). Lines are older but in good shape. Centerboard is stainless steel.
Comes with a load rite trailer (w/o a title). The trailer it comes with is in the last 2 pictures. I am also including 3 sets (main/jib/spin) of sails (2 older Shore Sails and 1 set of Vermont Sailing Partners (VSP) sails), removable motor mount, and the hiking straps as pictured.
I'm selling her as I am just finishing a restoration of a 1956 wooden Lightning which I will be sailing instead of the boat for sale.
Local pickup in Annapolis, MD.
