Vintage 1932 Hickman Sea Sled Classic Wooden Boat

Beautiful and rare mahogany 1932 Hickman Sea Sled, Model 16 motor boat. 16 feet long; Double cockpit. Built for speed, a classic high-performance boat with lots of years left on the water under the care of the right person. This boat is rare; one is in the Mystic Seaport Museum, one in the Adirondack Museum, and one owner had one in Lake George a few years ago. Not too many more are heard about.
The Sea Sled was a breakthrough in design and function, built by Albert Hickman who, according to Wooden Boat magazine, was one of the first men to “achieve high speeds on the water without resorting to high power,” compared to other planing boats, this particular craft runs like a sled on ice, thus its name. Upon acquiring the boat in 1998, it was immediately taken to a professional, well known boat builder who specializes in restoring high end wooden boats. This boat was used for pleasure cruising on calm waters on a lake in the Adirondack Mountains from 1998, last used around 2008 and then stored on its trailer in the garage. All components are original with the exception of the steering wheel.
Included is the custom-made cover and Dilly trailer which was customized for this specific boat.
If interested, pictured Mercury 25 hp four stroke motor circa 2005 is available for sale. Practically new: low hours and used only on this boat for pleasure cruising.
