This is a rare 1932 J. R. Bassett guide boat. These sturdy boats were all hand-built for guiding fishing and hunting trips in the St. Lawrence river area of Lake Ontario. It is powered by the original inboard 4 cylinder Universal Blue Jacket motor. It comes with oars, a cover and 1998 Shore Land'r trailer. A partial restoration was performed by a previous owner several years ago. The windshield is an add-on that is easily removed. The boat was shown in the water at the Antique Boat Museum's 2004 Antique Boat Show in Clayton, NY. While this boat is considered museum quality - see photo of letter from the Antique Boat Museum - it is a solid working boat ready to hit the water. Prior to being stored for the past few years it was used on a regular basis and was a guest boat at an inn on Upper Saranac Lake used for fishing and evening cruises. Please contact contact me with any questions prior to bidding. SERIOUS BIDDERS ONLY! We will require a non-refundable deposit of $500 within 24 hours of the end of auction. The remainder must be paid via cash or cashier/bank check and the boat picked up within 14 days of the end of the auction. |
