1940's Classic 14’ Reinell CEDAR“Resort Boat”

"Squirt" ...as beautiful as a hand built cedar canoe…

HISTORY: This very rare & original resort boat was found at a local NW rural area estate. This boat was virtually unrestored and unmolested, except for fresh bottom paint.The wood is clear cedar planking, tight butt, and whenlast outin Puget Sounditwas tight & seaworthy. There is no rot in the boat structure, just some age discolorations. You can see the smooth surfaces on the sides of the boat. They have not been destroyed by hard sanding, and look smooth and original. This will be a beauty when refinished!

The boat was identified, by renowned "Wooden BoatCenter" at Lake Union in Seattleas a late 1940’s to early 50's Reinell “resort boat” … a locally built NW 1946 CEDAR RUN-ABOUT/Resort Boat model design. At that time they estimated the value of the boat at $3,500.00 based upon it's rarity & solid condition. They would have loved the donation of the boat to them! Reinellwas noted for using the highest quality materials such as the clear old growth cedar and also for using copper rivets as found in the construction of this boat. As the craft was named “SQUIRT” it was most likely built for a fresh water weekend lake resort. The Indian salmon more recent fish sticker found under other old state stickers added may help with history. The salmon is of similar design as the Stiliguamish Tribe and also Tulalip Tribe which are both local in this area, whereboat may have been used later in life. Prior owner built a quality vintage style wood windshield frame that was never installed but is included in sale.

BOAT DESCRIPTION: The boat is built of clear “old growth” cedar planking, tight butt design. There were no areas of rot or soft areas in the hull, boat is very, verysolid. Because it is of cedar construction, also very light and strong like a cedar canoe. It has copper rivets,with other type woods used for side rails, etc. There is a transomwrap plate of bronze, that shows very minimal outboard usage. It is a 14’ craft, measuring appx 13’8” bow to stern, and 4’6” width. The woods are overall beautiful! This boat woods do need refinishing,easy restorations ...and it will be beautiful when done. Value is in the boat, butalso includedis the vintage trailer in good condition. It can be easily hooked up and hauled away! The 50's vintage 3HP Johnson outboard motor is also included.
