What can we say about Imi Loa? We love her,She is a beautiful 43' CSK catamaran built on the west coast and launched in 1963, originally built for Vic Stern as a cruiser/racer. She competed in 43 Newport to Ensenada races, several Trans- Pac races and delivered mile after mile of awesome sailing. Completely re-fitted in 2010, and set up for cruising for two. My wife and I put 1000's of miles on her and explored so many islands we can't even remember them all(that might be the rum). She is quick and easy to sailby a couple. Always the Belle of the Ball in every anchorage you find, someone always recognizes Imi Loa and has a story to share and wants to know if she is "The Real Imi Loa".... she is!
Did I mention the Peso is 18:1 right now? That makes tacos and cerveza cheaper that ever! ***Maybe possible trades??? Never know, Land ? House? Cabin?
You want to go cruising? You want a Catamaran? You can buy a new 43'Catamaranfor $300-400K and need to buy a lot of equipment. Or you can own this awesome classic for much less and go cruising now, not later. You Know.... Go Simple, Go Now!
She is a good old boa, and will make somebody a perfect cruiser. She needs a little TLC, but that is the name of the cruising game, the TLC is a constant need of EVERY boat. Paint this...varnish that, cleanit all again....That being said I would gladly throw a fresh coat of bottom paint on and launch her tomorrow and go cruising again, she ismostlyready to go today, or ready to be polished out to your perfect standard tomorrow. She has been clocked at 26Knts stripped for racing, and we have had her in the 16-18Knt range a couple time, she loves toglide at between 6-9Knts...pulls nicely at 5-7Knts andBelow 4 Knts...... are we really moving? She is smooth and easy.
And before you ask,"if she is so awesome why is she for sale" Life has delivered us a different path for a while, many tears will be shed saying goodbye to that beautifulold boat.
