Sailfish Sailboat - Newly Renovated
Description
I made this Sailfish sailboat in 1967 in Norfolk Va at the Navy Hobby Shop. It is 14.5 feet long and the frame and most of the deck is teak wood I purchased from Little Creek Amphibious Base. The teak wood had been intended to be used on Carrier decks but the decks at that time were then being made with steel and the teak wood was surplus and being sold. About 30 years ago I stored the boat in my shop hanging from the ceiling but in the last year I have renovated it by replacing the front plywood deck, sanding and spar varnishing the teak deck and marine painted (white) the boat body. Also installed a new bow attachment plate, new ropes and refinished the rudder and dagger board . The sail is made of nylon and still appears strong but is a bit faded in places. Fully Sail able but also could be used as a beautiful decorator piece in a large home or restaurant,
