oday mariner 22 saliboat trailer 5hp nissan 4 stroke motor 4 sails
Description
With new fiberglass centerboard from Stuart Marine, galvanized roller trailer, 4-stroke Nissan long shaft 5 hp motor with low hours, and 4 sails. The Mariner is a day sailer/small cruiser. This 1977 model, hull # 3489, is one of the last built by O'Day. O'Day production stopped in 1978 after 3771 were built. The Mariner is based on the Rhodes 19 hull, 19' 2" long, 7' beam, draft 10" with board up, 4'11" with board down, 185 sq. ft. sail area. The boat weighs 1600 lbs. It was introduced in 1963 and is still manufactured today, with an active class association.HULL Almost exclusively used in fresh water since I have owned it (last 23 years). I replaced the cast iron centerboard with a new fiberglass/lead core board from Stuart Marine, the current builder. The centerboardpennant is new 7x19 1/8" stainless. The kick up rudder is complete with detachable tiller extension. Tiller lock box installed in cockpit side. Boarding ladder, removableoutboard motor bracket, Plastimo compass, motor theft/safety chain, reinforced bow eye, cowl ventilator. The bottom paint has been allowed to wear off since the boat is used in fresh water.INTERIOR The cushions are like new. There is a portable toilet. I have removed the floorboards and opened up forward compartments for drainage. Flotation foam is dry. A garboard plug is installed for dry storage; the 7/16" plug is threaded into a bronze plate in the hull and installs from below, with safety nut installed on the inside.SPARS Themast mounts on deck andcan be stepped by one person. A second set of shrouds are clipped to eye pads aligned with the mast, and these shrouds are hoisted in the mast track. They steady the mast as the mast is lifted, then either pushed up with a wood extension (included) or hoisted using the trailer winch. The mast weighs 40 lbs. and is 24'8" long.STANDING RIGGING All stays and shrouds are complete with turnbuckles. There are three mast supports for storage/trailering. One fits in the stern, one fits on the mast tabernacle and one sits at the bow.RUNNING RIGGING Halyards are color coded. A topping lift runs through a block at the boom end, then to a cleat. Jiffy reefing is fitted to the boom and the mainsail. Jib sheets lead through upgraded Harken blocks on tracks to quick release swivel cam cleats on the cabin top. Mid boom sheeting for the main, featuring upgraded Harken ratchet cam cleat blocks and fiddle block. There are leads for a jib downhaul. Boom vang.SAILS The original O'Day sails are in usable condition, with minor stains. There are no rips/tears/repairs except the clear plastic window on the jib is repaired with clear tape. The main has reefing points installed and jiffy reefing is easily done with the hook at the gooseneck and a line through the tack leading to a jam cleat. There are two additional sails: a genoa jib (with a 10' 8" foot) in good condition, and a heavy weather jib, also in good condition. These last two sails are from a Rhodes 19 which has aforestay 3' shorter than a Mariner. The Genoa has never been rigged on this boat. There is a green mainsail cover in good condition.MOTOR Nissan 5 hp 4-stroke purchased in 1999. This is a long shaft motor. It has a 3-blade displacement prop for sailboats. It has very low hours in fresh water (with one two week cruise in salt water). There are two gas tanks, the original Nissan and an additional 6 gallon tank with hose. The motor bracket on the boat raises in increments, so the motor can always be adjusted toproper depth. The entire motor bracket slides in tracks which allow it to be removed from the boat. The motor was winterized and cylinders fogged in 2013 when last used, and I just put it in the lake on 8/16/16 and it started on the second pull.TRAILER1992 Galvanized NorEaster trailer with roller bunks, bearing compression fittings (like bearing buddies) trailer jack, 2" ball, 3080 lb. GVWR, capacity 2500 lbs., F78x14 load range C tires. This trailer was purchased new from a local dealer and used only for storage on lakeside property. Although never registered, the title and all paperwork are ready to go. I no longer have a vehicle with a 6 pin connector totest the lights, but both trailer taillights light up when 12 volts are applied to the respective pins on the 6 pin (round) connector. The lightbulbs are in waterproof capsules inside the outer plastic cases. All wiring is intact. The original tires are holding air fine but the sidewalls show cracks. The trailer will need the lighting checked and tire issues addressed by the new owner if a long trip is anticipated. The boat has spent the last 23 years in NW Connecticut; it has been infrequently used but properly maintained, repaired and upgraded. It has not beensailed for the past 4 seasons and needs a new home. If I have left anything out or there are any questions, please ask. $500. deposit within 48 hours, pickup arranged by mutual agreement. I will demonstrate the motor for the winning bidder upon pickup.
