This is a 1987 Bay Class Yachts cutter rigged sailboat. The boat was built in England and brought here by the person who had her commissioned. The hull is made of corten steel. Areas of the hull that had repairs were coated heavy with “Wet Dry 700” epoxy so as not to have issues again. Google “Wet Dry 700” to get info on this Kevlar reinforced epoxy. The hull is so well built everyone thinks its fiberglass. It has a 4 cylinder Phasor Kubota diesel that was installed just before I purchased the boat so I was the first one to run it. It has maybe 30 hours on it and still has the break in oil in it. The boat has a Hood in mast furling system. It has furling systems for both head sails. The furling systems need to be serviced but you can sail it now with the main sail which is up and in great shape. The head sails are also in great shape. It was being set up for a self tending headsail which would allow the boat to be sailed by one person and not have the need for winches. Therefore if youwant to use it as a cutter rig you will need to buy and install winches. The engine is running off a plastic day tank with fuel filter in the engine room being that the main tank needs to be cleaned and new filter system needs to be set up. This had not been done after the new engine was installed. Although it can be run under power and or main sail as it sits now it is still in the project stages. The 110 volt AC system works but needs updating. The 12volt / 24 volt system is not set up at all and needs total updating. The only 12 volt item working is the bilge pump and starter system for the diesel engine. The stanchions for the lifelines were removed and holes filled but they are all in the boat and can be installed again. It is set up for a shower but a water heater needs to be installed as well as the pressure pump replaced. It is set up with a pressure regulator to run a hose off the dockside water. It does not have a head installed (toilet) It does not have a holding tank. The large windows in the raised salon need the glass replaced. I have the rubber surround material from the manufacture to install single pane safety glass. The boat had dual pane glass to deal with the cold of England and they all have condensation in them. The other 6 Lewmar opening portlights are ready for new seals. They are available. These are not cheep plastic portlights. Nothing in this boat was cheep. This is a great livaboard retirement boat. It does need woodwork inside.
It’s a chance for the right person who can do their own work to get a world class sailboat. If you don’t know how to work on boats don’t waste my time or yours. This is a project sold “as is”. This is a great deal for the right person to finish while living aboard.
The slip is $378 per month in sunny Florida. Its an additional $50- to live on it. That includes the electric. (This is the price as I write this, I can’t control the marinas prices) It does have a unit that does air conditioning or dehumidify mode. It is a free standing air cooled unit that has been mounted and vented outside. Not a conventional marine unit. This last part is in bold print so we understand each other. Don’t be telling me it is not as described. This is a $200,000 boat that needs the restoration finished. The starting bid is way less than half the price of the engine that was installed. The boat will be paid for in full before the location is given out or US Coast Guard documentation is transferred.
I hope the right person gets this amazing deal.
The boat slip will be paidup to the end of December. Youwill take over the slip rent starting Jan 1 2017.
.
Be serious and have the funds or do not bid..........Deposit must be made right away...Balance must be paid in fullandUSCG documents filled out and notorized before location and boat is released... Iwill not play games with people who make up their own rules.
