1965 Chris Craft ski boat
Description
Up for auction today is a 1965 Chris Craft Ski Boat. This is one I have for restoration. The hull, for the most part, is solid. As you can see there is a small partial plank repair needed on the port side. I have already fitted and installed that patch using Honduras mahogany. It needs feathering in and plugs to be complete. As you can also see it needs the transom replaced. These boats came from the factory with a plywood transom, I was going to replace it with mahogany planking but, later decided to go with the original marine plywood application. Therefore I have made a pattern to be able to accomplish it. I do not have the marine plywood. The boat comes with the original rare GLASS windshield.which, in itself, is worth far more than the opening bid. If for some reason the boat doesn't sell I am going to remove the windshield and replace it with a plexi-glass one I have. I decided to leave the glass one on because I didn't want to take a chance of breaking it. The interior is original it is not complete but what there is, is in usable condition. Not great, by a long shot, only basically usable. Engine box, the same. Another thing, the steering wheel is in very good shape and if you are not familiar with the prices of a used one it is several hundred dollars. I have some but, not all, of the trim hardware. The drive hardware (shaft, prop and rudder are included with the sale as is the trailer it is sitting on. The trailer is a factory built and the boat fits very well on it. The tires are brand new, they have about 700 miles on them I bought them when I bought the boat and pulled it up here from Florida. and it has hub buddies for easy maintenance. All in all this is a great deal for someone who wants a great boat and a good winter project.
The engine that Chris Craft put in these boats were Chevy 327's. I bought this boat without an engine but, I am in the process of rebuilding one which I will sell separately. It will be a zero time engine. I have "tweeked" it a little bit with an Edelbrock intake manifold and 4 barrel carb, a mild cam ground to produce the most power on the bottom end which is what is needed for a boat pulling multiple skiers out of the water. I have told you everything I can think of, if you have any other things you want to know contact me. This is a non reserve auction so, bid to win the last bid wins it. The boat is sold AS IS. As such, no guarantees or, warranties of any kind are expressed or, implied. The boat is listed locally therefore, I reserve the right to cancel the auction early. A $250.00 deposit must be made within 24 hours of the close of the auction the balance within 5 days or, I will immediately re-list it and make a non paying bidder report. Have fun, bid early and often!!
