ABOUT THIS VESSEL:

Harold Glander designed and built this boat in Tavernier, Fl in the Herreshoff tradition. His vision was a shallow draft sailing vessel for sailing the shallow waters of the Florida Keys and Bahamas, with a center board to help her when sailing in deeper waters or crossing the Gulf Stream. The design was based on a boat he designed and built for himself in 1956. There were only 134 of these vessels built and now, here is your opportunity to add this to yoursailing legacy.

This 1985 Glander Tavana 33 is perfect for day sailing, coastal cruising and checking out the shallow waters of the Florida Keys and Bahamas. If you're looking to cruise shallow water regions, the number of anchorages available to those who choose a shallow draft cruiser are far more numerous than those who choose big deep draft vessels.
Equipped with a 2008 Yanmar 3YM30 diesel producing 29 hp, she'll cruise at her hull speed effortlessly. The 15 gal tapered fuel tank was installed in 2008 and will provide enough fuel to motor all day if needed - but it's a great sailing boat, so you shouldn't need to motor all day. Other upgrades in 2008 include new muffler, new electrical panel and there is a new 3 blade prop too.
Tiller steering, with Raymarine 2000 Tiller Pilot, keeps things simple onboard and eliminates costly steering maintenance and repairs when cruising remote areas. Not to mention being able to feel how the boat is responding to the conditions.
Large cockpit permits enough room for several adults to relax. The cockpit table has two mounts, permitting it to be used in a number of different situations. The cockpit is protected with a bimini that was new in 2009. The aft deck has two access hatches to the lazarette. The taffrail has the VHF antennae and a BBQ grill mounted on it. There is a custom arch over the back deck with solar panels mounted on top.
This boat is set up for single handed sailing with all lines leading aft to the cockpit. There are (2) Barlow winches for the jib sheets and the jib is mounted on a Hood roller furling system. Setting and striking a head sail has never been easier. Doyle stack pack and lazy jacks allows the main sail to be stowed in seconds. A self-tailing Lewmar winch on the cabin top handles all of your halyards at the cockpit. Even the centerboard is raised and lowered from the cockpit. An aluminum mast and stainless steel standing rigging completes the rig.
Navigating new waters is made easier when using the Garmin Chart plotter, Ritchie compass, Raymarine Depth sounder and the Uniden VHF radio w/wireless microphone.
The trunk cabin has a low profile, adding to the sleek lines of this classic boat. Nine opening bronze port lights and a hatch over the V-berth provides plenty of ventilation. There is a wind scope for the V-berth hatch. Two custom teak bench seats on the forward cabin provide a good view and additional seating for guests or relaxing at anchor in the harbor by yourself. A manual anchor windlass is mounted on the foredeck. There are two Danforth anchors, one of which is a new Fortress still-in-the-box-new!

The cabin is accessed through the large companionway from the cockpit. Immediately to port and starboard are large settees that double as quarter berths. There is a centerline fold up table between the quarter berths. Aft of the starboard quarter berth is access to a large storage area. Aft of the port quarter berth is battery storage and access. There are (2) house batteries and (1) engine starting battery. The batteries are connected to an isolator switch and charged by shower power through a 1500 watt inverter/charger, engine alternator or solar panels.
Engine access is between the quarter berths, under the cockpit. Access to the engine is good, making routine maintenance a little less of a hassle. The navigation electronics are mounted on a board with hinges, allowing the electronics to be stowed out of the way when not in use, but visible from the cockpit when underway. This also protects them the elements - increasing the life span of these items.
The galley consists of a small 110v fridge, a GE microwave and Cuisinart toaster oven. A single stainless steel sink has fresh water serviced by a manual foot pump.
Moving forward from the main cabin, there is a head to port and a hanging locker to starboard. The head is currently equipped with a port-a-potty.
The V-berth is forward and has three opening ports and the hatch with the available wind scope.
