2002 Flying Scot # 5473
19’ One design centerboard daysailer-racer with over 6,000 sold since 1957 and still in production today. There are over 100 active fleets across the US. The Flying Scot has the reputation of being one of the fastest, best built sailboats of its type ever made. This a fresh water boat that was always dry-sailed and trailer-raced until last month when I put it a slip in Lake Travis, Austin, TX. This was an actively raced boat until I bought it recently. I believe I am the third owner. It is a real head turner and very fast; I saw a video of someone waterskiing behind one in a stiff breeze. There is a new set of racing sails as well as a set that is in almost new condition and some older sails.
The builder is very active and helpful with owners. They stock and provide every possible part that may ever need replacing. Also there is a very active class association with a great web site. This boat is actively raced all over the US.
It is inexcellent and totally sound condition. There are a few cosmetic scratches on the hull but the rest of the boat is in excellent condition. We are selling because of my wife’s knee surgery and it isn’t suitable for our very young grandchildren.
