Red Hot Mess (ex Smokey) Located on the Chesapeake Bay and is a good quality fractional racing sloop. The Kirby 30 is a popular racer-cruiser built by Mirage Yachts and sailed competitively. All lines are led aft to the cockpit, primary cockpit winches and wide decks for easy crew work. Some new sails and fully outfitted, this boat is race-ready and priced to sell quickly. We have had great success racing the Kirby 30 in Wednesday night racing as well as weekend and a few longer distance races. We have always placed. Please contact me for a more information about the race record.
The Kirby 30 would also be a nice daysailer as well as a basic weekender. We have added a short hoist Mainsail that is under the runners (see pictures) that will allow you to sail without the worry of adjusting the running backstays. There is a new portapoti that has a deck pump out for ease of use. The cushions are still in nice condition and are comfortable.
This is a very solid boat with no hull flex in heavy air and short chop. We have sailed and raced this boat for the past three years and have had no issues. We do have the survey from our original purchase which can be sent if requested.
As for equipment, first all the winches were rebuilt this past year for smooth operation. The backstays were remounted down the transom and reinforced for greater security. All equipment goes with the boat to include lines, anchor, winch handles, safety gear. Electronics include a Sailcomp mast display and a tri data (speed depth) display. The bottom is fared and is fast.
Sails:
We have a new 170% genoa that we use in light winds for better performance and all the Spinnakers are in good shape. We have some older sails that are usable to include a heavy air 150% and a blade/jib. There are three mains and several other headsails.
Note: The motor was rebuilt by Bayshore Marine in Annapolis. There are currently "0" hours on the rebuilt motor.
If you have any question please ask, this is a nice boat and we are starting the bidding out relatively low. Don’t miss out on this nice quality competitive racer/cruiser.
