Bass Boat, 1971 Crosby Sled with trailer, 1960 Evinrude 40HP Lark II
Description
1971 Crosby Sled Bass Boat with a 1960 Evinrude 40HP Lark II outboard. Boat, motor and trailer. I have owned this boat, motor and trailer since 1998 and have only used it about once per year. Boat is in good condition and comes with a trolling motor, battery, all seats, front and rear seats have pedestals. Trailer in good condition with new tires, two spare wheels and tires, all lights working.
The motor is a 1960 Evinrude, 40 HP Lark II. Electric start and pull cord as well. On last trip Sept 2017, on the last day the motor lost fire to lower cylinder. On return home, I put in new coils, condensors and points. But I am still getting no fire to lower cylinder. Have not been able to trace cause. Appears to be something killing fire to lower cylinder. This motor is 57 years old and if going to be used a lot, it would be best to have it rebuilt. Compression is enough for it to run. Around 100 top cylinder, 90 bottom cylinder. Over the years I have replaced a lot of items on the motor, thermostat, rebuilt fuel pump, all rubber hoses, went through lower unit replacing seals, wiring harness, etc. These old motors run strong but do require some maintenance to keep them going. I have several spare parts, lower unit, carb, head, reed valve which will be included. These motors sell on eBay for over $500, and could be parted out for more. I have over $400 invested in the spare parts.
I have a video on you tube of boat runningon last trip in Sept 2017 with motor running well. Search on you tube for 1960 Evinrude 40HP Lark II.
