1953 aristocraft typhoon
Description
This is an early Aristocraft 12 foot Typhoon made by the Atlanta Boat WorksAtlanta Boat Works began manufacturing AristoCraft boats in 1946 following Claude Turner's return from service during World War II. Production began with five employees at a downtown Atlanta location. These early days saw the production of an open fishing-type boat which was replaced in 1947 with the models that AristoCraft is known for.
The Typhoon, a 12' 2-seater runabout, was introduced, followed by a 13' Torpedo that had a barrel stern.I am not an expert on boats by any means but with the research I have done I believe this is a 1953 model. It is basically a barn find; having sat in a barn since 1969. I purchased it from the second owner who bought it when he was 19 years old. and it seems to be better than 90% complete with no rot
The nice thing about this boat as all missing parts/trim are still available from the Atlanta Boat Works Company. Please visit there website to see their history and all the boats that they made.
The boat comes with a trailer and the motor isMercury Mark 55 Thunderbolt Four outboard motor. Which is a 40 horsepower motor and I have the owners manual. I do not know thecondition of the motor. The tires on the trailer have plenty of tread and I had no issues towing it 35 miles to where it is currently located. This boat would make an excellent fall/winter projectIf you have questions I would suggest you call or text me at 828-489-6075This boat is being sold with a bill of sale and it is being as is where is so please bid accordingly.
