Hawksbill was one of only 5 of this type of vessel.This particular Hawksbill was built as a gentleman's Sword Fishing boats, with a huge cockpit.

She has an exceptional pedigree designed by John Alden and custom built in 1965 in East Boothbay Maine by one of the all time greatest boat builders, Sonny Hodgdon of Hodgdon Bros.

The boat has an incredible history. Initially built for a writer from NY as a sword fishing boat which was his passion.

The second owner and his wife over the 30 years traveled extensively in fact the boat traveled to various locations spending 9 months of every year to different destinations egBahamas, New England, New Foundlandetc etc.

We purchased the boat in 2014 and set about an extensive 12 month restoration and refurbishment in New England. The work was completed by leading shipwrights and an extensive photographic documentation of the progress recorded. We added a fish door into the new transom and added a custom built 3ft teak Dive platform. Lee Rod Holders installed. New coach roof refurbished wood replaced where needed, Dynel finish.Interior new ceiling in teak Herreshoff style on R20 insulation throughout salon and cabins.

Extremely spacious interior with greatvisibility in the salon.Superb ventilation from hatches and when opening double slide back cabin doors that have new removable screens.New upholstered benchseats around custom made mahogany table. Leather Chesterfield Sofa pull out bed. Leather recliner chair. Original bronze light fittings converted to LED. Custom made wooden cabinet housing hydraulic pedestal with new 40 inch Samsung TV.

Galley is up with new custom mahogany counter tops, large stainless steel sink, two newrefrigerators/freezers. new Convection Oven. Tasco Propane range. Lots of storage.

There are three cabins. Master cabin with queen bed and extra large bunk.

Guest cabin with two bunks with new mattresses. The forward cabin which was used as crew’s quarters is now used as part cabin/ a tool room/ but can be made whatever new owner would want.

There are 2 heads the one in the master cabin as a shower. Both have new stainless steel sinks and headhunter toilets.

Mechanically theCaterpillarengine 3306 290hp thru twin disc transmission best package ever made. Running the engine at 11/1200rpm we only burned 2.25 gallon per hr at 9/11 Knott on our journey from Rhode Island to Florida. She carries 1000g fuel.

A full survey was done less than 10 months ago by Bill Full a very well-known reputable wooden boat surveyor from Cape Cod. This was recently updated by him 2 months ago for insurance purposes.
