The City of Fernandina Beach is selling a 1976 Down East Fiberglass sailboat by means of ano reserve auction. This boat is an abandoned vessel that the City recently acquired through the court process. We do not know the history of this vessel. The boat sits in mud at low tide so it can only be movedduring high tide. At high tide the boat leans to the port side and the bowsprit appears to be damaged. The City encourages all bidders to inspect this boat in person prior to bidding. The higher bidder has 2 weeks from auction close to remove the boat from the Fernandina Marina or will have to pay storage/docking fees.The contact number for the Fernandina Marina is (904) 310-3300. Please review the pictures carefully and bid accordingly. Once again we do not know the history of this vessel. We do not know what works or what doesn't. The boat was started and moving under its own power a few months ago.
