This 2006Gig HarborNavigator dinghy is one of the most versatile 10' boats out there. The smaller a boat is the more you use it.Car top thislight 75 lb.Kevlarcomposite hull to the water and then sail, row or power it (electric or gas). For those who know today's small boat builders know that Gig Harbor Boat Works makes strong, dependable andwell-builtboats. Here's what Gig Harbor has to say about the Navigator:
"The Navigator is an excellent boat for general recreational use, as a yacht tender or personal watercraft. It rows very well, has good stability and buoyancy, and sails very responsively.
Wepersonallyuse this boat for everything. We will carry it on the roof rack for a quick run to our favorite secret crabbing area, we tow it behind a "big" sailboat, and it's the boat we grab for just "dinking around" the harbor on a Sunday afternoon.
The high performance option consists of easily removable bowsprit with 120% genoa jib and relatedhardware. It is a fast, fun little dinghy..."
See Gig Harbor Boat Works web page for more details and check out what a 2017 model will cost new if spec'd out like this one.
This boat was originally purchased by a big sailboat owner in Santa Monica, California. He only sailed it a few times and mainly used it as yacht tender. I purchased it in 2012 and car topped it from Santa Monica to Texason a Prius, then later shipped it out to Virginia.
The original owner spec'd this model out with all the bells and whistles including cup holders. Here is a summary of all the options:
Kevlar composite construction
High Performance SailingPackage (with removable bowsprit)75sqftmain+jib
Stainless Steel Keel Strip
Kick-uprudder option
Reinforced 12V battery pad (flat spot forward ofdaggerboardwith mounts to hold a battery for use with a trolling motor)
Alternate Rowing Position
Custom Hull Color (black on white)
(4) Lifting Eyesfor use with a davit
A 2017 model built out the same way would run $5900. That doesn't include the additional upgradesI've done:
One row of reefs added to main sail by Glaser Sails (the original manufacture of the sails)
Jiffy Reefing setup purchased from Gig Harbor
Custom boat cover bySloCanvas (designed toaccommodatethe bowsprit).
Water tight storage ports in bow and stern compartment to provide dry storage.
Extra sail mast loops for connecting main sail to mast
The previous owner could have probably done a better job storing the boat. It has some nicks/spider webon the hull which I repaired with gel coat and I also buffed/polished the hull to remove some oxidation from being stored on hisyacht. The mast hasa section where the two pieces connect in which thetan coloredpaint is starting to come off. All these issues are strictly cosmetic and there are no structural or functional issues with the boat. I have stored the boat insideeversince I owned it. I've only used the boat for rowing and sailing in a small protected water way. I have sailed the boat less than a dozen times. The boat is complete and everything in the pictures is included with the boat. It is all ready to be enjoyed on the water. The only reason I am selling is because I am upsizingto a 10' 10" boat. Priced to sell. This boat does not come with a trailer, but if you wanted to use one a small boat trailer or an inexpensive used jet ski trailer could be used. Please don't hesitate to ask any questions about the boat.
