1984 S2 11.0 36' Sailboat
Description
'Tranquila' is a capable S2 11.0A (aft cockpit) that's ready for a new home. She's a very original boat -- original Yanmar 3HMF diesel that starts instantly, original sails (mainsail and 135% genoa, just about due for replacement), original electronics (depth meter is only operable instrument), newer CD stereo and VHF radio. I have a second genoa that I've never flown, which is also original to the boat and in similar condition to the other two sails.
Boat needs cosmetic attention on the hull (gelcoat patch on port side stands out) and boat could use updating in most areas and re-bedding of deck hardware in a few areas. Also pertaining to cosmetics is a water mark about 12" above the cabin sole, which occurred from a water intrusion incident a number of years ago prior to my ownership. The kick panel along the starboard settee bench seems to be the only panel that experienced any delamination as a result of this water intrusion. The listing photos tell the cosmetic story. A garboard plug was installed last year to avoid any future off-season water accumulation in the bilge.
The aft lower port side chainplate was just professionally repaired with a new laminated 1.5" bulkhead that was tabbed and gelcoated. Repair area is currently uncovered (see photos) for inspection. This was the only known structural issue with the boat.
From a systems standpoint, the waste system has seen the most updating -- rebuilt manual head pump and all new waste hose from head to holding tank and deck pump-out. The boat was originally equipped with refrigeration, which was removed by a previous owner. The fresh-water system is in its original form and works well, but the water heater in the port cockpit locker is just about due for replacement.
The Yanmar 3HMF diesel runs very well. There is a slight vibration over 2,000 rpm, so the engine probably needs an alignment. Boat was not built with an hour meter, so engine hours are unknown. The only known deficiency with regard to engine-related components is the fuel gauge, which isn't working. Direct replacement parts are available through the fuel tank builder in Florida.
This is a great sailing boat that my family has enjoyed over the past few years. Seriously for sale and selling due to a growing family and increasingly limited time to enjoy and maintain the boat. The boat has been on the hard since September 2015 and the engine has been run periodically since that time, simply to keep the internals oiled and moving freely.
Message me with any questions or to set a time to view the boat. Clean RI title in hand. Boat is currently stored on the hard for the winter in North Kingstown, RI. I encourage a visit to view the boat prior to bidding to see it first hand and ask any questions.
