Pro Sports Boats introduced new catamaran models as that portionof its business grows rapidly in relation to its line of sturdy monohull boats. Mike Robinson, Pro Sports' president,says the cat business is hot and the demand for these boats is on the rise, so the company was eager to add to its catamaran line. The latest addition is the 2200 WA ProKat, which is built on the same proven 22-foot hulls as the 2200 CC ProKat center console we tested last year.The new boat is a walk around cuddy design, and offers the samegreat ride and handling characteristics found in the center console,with the addition of a cabin for the family.The 2200 WA has a large,open cockpit with twin 35-gallon live wells in the transom bulkhead just forward of the integrated engine platform. A transom gate betweenthe wells provides access to the platform, where you'll finda center lineswim ladder. Because cats have their engines mountedfarther apart than mono hulls, there's lots of space between themfor getting in and out of the water. Pro Sports builds in rodracks under the gunwales, with room for two rods per side.Two fore-and-aft fish boxesare recessed into the twin hulls and willhold an ample supply of ice and fish, or can be used for storage. At the forward end of the cockpit there's a small step thatleads to the bridge deckand helm area. The compact helm station allowsyou to sit or stand while steering, a definite advantage,while enjoying great visibility in all directions. Twin pedestal seatsaccommodate the helmsman and a passenger, and the gauges arcover the wheel, where they're in plain sight from all angles.There are also tackle drawers beneath the helm. LOTS OF CABIN SPACE When you step down into thecabin area, you find a surprising amount of room. The entire cabinis basically a double berth, and it's a roomy one. Lots ofsmaller boats call their berths "double," but you'd behard-pressed to fit two adults into one. This boat can do itin comfort. There'sfresh water sink to port as you enter the cabin, with storage spacebeneath it. A porta-potty is concealed in the starboard hull beneaththe aft corner of the bunk, out of sight and outof the way. A large storage tray forward holds loose items, and theentire cabin is finished nicely, with carpet overhead, lights,a mirror, and three port lightsto let in the sun. Like its center console-sibling, the new 2200 WA runs well. As we've often pointed out,displacement cats run very level and hardly lean at all during turns. They slice through waves (small ones, anyway) without noticing them, and the ride must be experienced if you haven't tried it.It is so different from a mono hullthat it feels strange at first,but quickly becomes very comfortable. We tested the 2200 WAin the protected waters of Florida Bay north of Key Largo, although it didn'tgive us a chance to assess its rough-water attributes.The 2200 rides level and accelerates with no bow rise. At a 4000rpm cruise speed, it traveled at 25 mph with twin 130-hp Yamaha two-stroke outboards. Pushing the throttles wide open, we reached atop speed of 42 mph at 5800 rpm. Cats are just plain fun to drive, and this new one from Pro Sports is no exception. Lots offishermen are switching to cats these days, not just because they'refun, but because they offer a way to fish without the poundingwe used to believe was inevitable with a lot of monohulls.

He loves to fish in freshwater and saltwater. In his Teenage years he worked in the marine industry detailing, shrink wrapping, winterizing, and storing vessels. He also had the opportunity to transport boats to and from the marina. This gave him plenty of experience loading and unloading, running, and docking the boats. During college he studied computer information systems and advertising! He moved down to Florida to pursue his golfing Career. He was a Golf professional for a private golf club in St. Petersburg Florida. His golf career was ended by a bad car accident. Garrison then opened up a boat and yacht detailing company called Boat Spa. He sold the company with residual contracts and then went to work with a boat company that he detailed for. He started in sales and ran from there. The next 10 years he spent selling, advertising, and developing into the Florida marine industry. He helped opened, advertise, sell, and general manage Full Throttle Marine Sales in Seminole Florida. He also works with Soflo Performance boats in Ft. Lauderdale selling custom Nor-Tech boats. He owns Erie International Marine located in his home town of Sandusky, Ohio. His connections and relationships in the marine industry gives his clients a unique selling and buying edge to the market.
