Description
1975 Viking 40. No reserve auction. Project boat needs very little work to be functional, some work to complete the restoration/update. All the major pieces are there. Over $100k investment in the last half dozen years. Priced for quick sale: Sale price is notably less than the sum of her parts
Solid hull and drivetrain, has spent most of its life at the dock or wintered on stilts (new england boat until 5 years ago; fully winterized and spring commisioned every year. shipped to TX for restoration). Engines were tuned, valve lash set, and all hoses, fittings and pumps refit. Little use since then. Just short cruises around Galveston. A couple 100 mile trips. Shakedown run by the boatyard after new fuel tank installed. Engines idle smooth. Engines mechanically solid; no smoke after initial startup or while underway. Don’t know total hours on engines. Very Fuel Efficient NA 3208’s. Northern Lights diesel Generator. Planes like a ski boat to a max speed of 20 knots. Hasn’t been run in little over a year (since fuel tank install).
Engine paint just stripped, treated and epoxy sealed against corrosion. Port engine leaksa little oil from the pan gasket. Not enough to be a concern. Could use new throttle and transmission cables. Pump/alternator belts haven't been replaced since painting.
Boat hasn't been underwaymuch in the last few yearswhileHallvaror has been worked on by boatyard (new stainless fuel tank)and professional cabinetmaker (4 wall Teak Interior).
Bottom was cleaned, inspected and painted a couple years ago. Very straight and solid. Could use bottom paint. Bottom cleaned and zincs maintained continuously by a diving service.
More than a thousand hours of labor on interior. Nearly Complete. Designed for an open and roomy layout. Very spacious for this size boat. All Teak bulkheads and overheads with engineered bamboo flooring in the galley/dinette, head, and forward stateroom. Stainless countertops, and sinks, new flush mount stove, top of the line head. Recessed LED lighting throughout interior, wired and functioning, combined with the varnished Teak bulkheads and overhead makes her bright, open and cheery. Have the flooring to finish the salon and Cockpit.
Mechanical EquipmentNew Custom Made 200 Gallon Stainless Steel Fuel Tank professionally installed.
Brand new $3K HVAC replacement for the Galley/Dinette and Salon (not yet installed but comes with the boat). Secondary HVAC system for the stateroom works well
