1995 Donzi Blackhawk 22'

Description

1995 Donzi 22' Blackhawk edition, original owner, original blackhawk drive. Mercruiser 502/415HP. I believe it to be hull 27 of 40. These 40 special edition boats were produced as a "celebration" of Donzi and Mercruiser getting back together after Donzi's foray with OMC. Boat/engine has around 200 hours. (I'll update exact hours during the week) Captain's call exhaust, snap out seat cushions for easy cleaning. Trim tab indicators, (aftermarket) original Italian burlwood wheel and original gauges. Engine control cable has been replaced once. Spark plugs recently replaced. Fresh water engine has never been apart, is run during 3 summer months then pickled with antifreeze and drained so only residual antifreeze is in block for most of year. Stored in garage with trailer /tires elevated off concrete floor.
Defects: when (idiot) dealer installed trim tab indicators, they drilled two holes in dash before realizing they wouldn't work in that location. They installed them to the right of the driver's seat, below throttle control. So - they're in an inconvenient place, AND there's two empty holes in dash. BUT - they are invaluable in the operation of the boat. These 40 boats came with gold covered hardware. the coating didn't last on any of them, and Donzi offered to correct the problem for free for the first year. I missed that "recall" (dealer driven out of business) but I understand they'll replate the fixtures for 400.00 but that's dated hearsay so . . . This boat still has some of the gold on it, there's none on the bow ring and but coverage increases the farther back on the hull you look. There is a scratch from a dock nail on one side. The very front of the keel has some fiberglass work covering damage from an ill placed roller bracket on the trailer.
But overall a good example of a historic boat. Plenty of reading available on this model so probably best to research if you're serious. According to an article in Boating magazine when the boat came out they clocked it at 83 MPH. It takes some finesse to do that - so be aware. The counter rotating props give it an extra 10 MPH over non-blackhawk drive models. At speed the boat is riding on just a square footwide pad and the props. It's like a hydroplane without the stabilization of the sponsons, so, yeah - exciting.
