Description
Please Note this boat will only be sold through Ebay I am out of the state but the boat can be viewed by appt on January 2021 in person Located in Monroe Michigan for intrested biddersI had a difficult time loading pictures on Ebay so I have some video that can be seen by searching on utube(1960 Chris Craft Conqueror on Lake Erie for Sale Part 1 -7)or more photos at
1960 Wood Chris Craft Conqueror. I have owned this boat since spring of 2020 and although I am very happy with this vessel circumstances have caused methe need to sell off some things..It is a wood boat so they always need something,But I am, pleased with the over all condition and performance considering its age.Just took her on cruise aprx 3 hours to its winter storage destination and she ran smooth.I purchased it in Ohio and run time to my marina was about 6 hours at the speed I cruised..With stoppingand fueling the trip was about 9 hours without troubletwin 327 inboard engines
Kohler generator (I have not tried to start it) it appears in good condtion and I have the manual but I can not verify myself that it runs..It will need a battery. It has a separate battery
Hot water tank looks newer but I could not get hot water from it..I did not spend much time trying to figure it out
It had 2 older 6 volt batteries pr engine that I replaced with a reconditioned single 12 volt battery for each engine. There is room for 2 more batteries if so desired. One more for each engine
The fridge appears to have a newer cooling unit but I never ran that eithe, again I can not verify it works but there is a book for that also. The battery for the fridge also needs to be replaced. Its old and has no voltage
I stayed on the boat most of the summer .I rarely heard the bildge pumps come on.I had a wood boat in the past that the bildge pumps came on throught the day.On this boat I sometimes would not hear anything pump on this boat for days while sitting..I cannot really say how often they kicked on but I was impressed how quickly she swelled when launched
I was told the originalengineswere 283 chevys but bumped up to 327s
Has 2 toilets one in the forward berth and one in the aft cabin. Both worked but the hose going to the tank from the aft toilet sprung a leak .I did not fix the leak or replace the hose .That will need to be done
Full convertible canvas for upper deck.
Rail canvas has a few small wear through holes wear it rubs up against the rails but they are small and repairable
Previous owner had kept the boat in a covered well .I did not have the ability to do so.So the windows do leak in several places and a few places where fasteners need to be sealed. I used some tape and putty around the windows .It slowed the leaking down but did not fix the problem. To do it right I suppose the windows need to come out and proper sealing performed
The boat has an electric anchor winch.I have not used it but it appears to work and has power to it.I don't know the age of it but the solenoid in the anchor compartment looks new.I have hit the foot switch and seen it power up and rotate properly
The boat is ready for new bottom Paint.Previous owner said he paid about 500.00 to have some fasteners installed on the front of the haul to tight up some boards .You can see the repair in the photos
Although I am not having any problem with them right now the keel shows signs of wear and has some cracks that should be addressed. The area wear the shafts come out of the haul also haswear but again not causing any problems thus far..I tried to take some close up photos. The other wear spots are at the bottom of the bildge where small ribs come together have eroded .(that's the best way to describe it I guess) The boat is built so well this also has notbeen a problem as it seems some small sister braces can be added .I am talking just a few inchesor at least less than a foot on each one. I tried to get a good photo
Water to all the sinks work in both heads and galley. There is a back deck water faucet which also work
Ship to shore radio has power but stopped transmitting for some reason
Horn does not give sound. Previous owner told me that every year he has to take out the switch and clean the contacts which I did not do .I just had an after market hand held air horn on hand
Swim platform and ladder are solidRail in front of port side entry door is loose
At some point the original Dinette has been removed and replaced with a counter top and cabinet. In front of the counter to, the floor was covered with a piece of OSB board about 3X4 which needs to be replaced .The corner of the window has leaked on it and caused it to swell and rot the OSB in that corner. The OSB is not aesthetic with the rest of the Mahogany and teak wood the boat was designed with and really needs to go.
Small hole about 1 inch and a half wear the front bow window meets the deck in the bottom corner
Back bumber rail below gunnel has a piece breaking off under themetal rail.Metal Rail is not bent but the 2inch by 1 foot long piece of wood will need replacing(see photo)
The search light does work along with the linkage to turn itThere is no bedding in the aft cabin.Twin mattresses fit each side.Upper bunks in the foward Berth area have mattresses.I believe they may be original.Solid but pretty old.
Varnish around front windows at helm is bubbling from the the sunlite.could use to besanded and revarnished
The boat is dry docked outside. Engine and water system has been winterized Engines were winterized by the marina.NOTE:: There is no shrink wrap or covering on the boat at the present time.
