Description

Chris Craft Continental 18". Fiberglass bottom. Still has the Lake Tahoe tag attached (no invasive species). Original interior and instrumentation. Always hangared. I have most of the historical documentation and many Chris Craft books and manuals. Has a removable Bimini top. Trailer included, but it does not have a spare tire. 4-barrel carb has jets set for Lake Tahoe.
Local Pickup only. Located near Monterey, CA at the Marina Airport (old Fort Ord). The factory spec sheet shows that it was a 1959 model, and first sold in December 1959. But CA DMV lists it as a 1960 model. DMV's error, not mine.. Probably that was when it was first registered (in 1960).

It has a Corvette 283 cubic inch V8 in it. It was last in Tahoe in 2012, I believe it is the original engine that came with the boat. I have the original sales equipment list showing 185hp V-8 motor #807204. I have had the engine serviced here in Santa Cruz and in 2012 in Tahoe at the Sierra Boat Company. (The wooden boat gurus). That was also the last time she's been in water. She has been my hangar queen since then. Last few years there wasn’t enough water here in California to take it anywhere of interest (except maybe Tahoe). I turn over the engine about once a month, and then, once a year, I soak the bottom in anticipation of taking her out somewhere. I have the prior owner service records, as well as mine, since around 1984. A new propeller and drive shaft were installed by Sierra BC in 2012. A new manifold and carb rebuild was done 2011. As I recall, the tachometer shows only 55 total hours on the engine since new. I Have the DMV boat tags through 2019.
The engine is strong and roars! I have never had the guts to open it up full throttle, even though the prior owner used it as a ski boat in Lake Berryessa, CA. I do not ski. Too old, too fat, too scared.

She is not a “show” boat, nor an award winner, but just a fun, powerful ride upon the water, or pulling skiers. Eventually,she will need new, modern, upholstery. I bought a new pin-striping kit, just never got the courage or talent to try it. I forgot to say that it comes with a vhf marine handheld radio, and some spares such as searchlight and gauges. Also has two covers, one in pretty good shape, but that needs another coat of waterproofing if you’re going to store it outside. The older, other one I keep to use as a template if I ever buy a new cover. It also comes with four (almost new) West Marine life jackets.
