1957 17' Chris Craft Sportsman
70+ Pictures below
Beautifully preserved 1957 17' Chris Craft Sportsman with the original & desirable dual carb KFL engine. This boat has spent the majority of its life fresh water Lake Washington in Seattle. Delivered new to the local dealer in 1957 and only having a handful of mindful owners over the years. We purchased Cherry-Cola in early 2013 and have we enjoyed many a sunny day out on the lake with her but we are moving later this year and unfortunately she can't come with us. She has always been well maintained in tip-top shape and has never fallen into disrepair at any point in her life.
In early 2016 we moved from Seattle to Orlando and the boat was carefully shrink-wrapped and shipped on that back of a flatbed trailer. Unfortunately the salt spray from the winter roads up north turned a few areas of the copper bottom paint a greenish hue, and the varnish was chaffed in a few areas by some loose shrink wrap. For this reason we decided to have her refinished after we arrived. She was stripped to bare wood, refastened, re-stained and varnished. All of the pictures were taken this weekend and should provide a good representation of her current condition. The engine was rebuilt during the previous owner's tenure and remains a strong runner. The interior is in great shape though not original to the boat (the original boat had a turquoise interior per the hull card from the Mariner's Museum.) The boat has an original bottom that is also in great shape and swells very nicely. She has received fresh hard-copper bottom racing paint this season. Her trailer is an ezy-loader with a few patches of surface rust but fits her well and has a brand new wheels, new hitch and new winch. I would be quite comfortable towing the boat anywhere in the US without any concerns. All that said, she is not a show-winning boat by any stretch but she is very, very presentable and always turns plenty of heads wherever she goes. She comes with a copy of the original Chris Craft factory hull card and plenty of other paperwork dating back to the mid 80's.
