Classic Boston Whaler 13' Restoration with 2012 30 HP ETEC
Description
I recently purchased a Montauk 17. So I need to sell my beloved 13' Classic Whaler powered by a 2012 eTec 30 HP, 2 stroke. The Evinrude is immaculate and has had only 31 hours run time. It is, in my opinion, the optimum modern motor for a 13' Whaler. It has both electric and pull start, remote control and manual tilt (to save weight). A Garelic Motor Tilter device makes tilting easy and is included with the sale. Motor retailed for over $5000.00. With my usual two person load and the factory aluminum prop - the WOT RPM is 5750 - dead center of the Max RPM range, GPS measured speed approximately 29-30 MPH. In 2014 the boat was restored in the original colors inside and out with Interlux Brightside Polyurithane and new Whaler decals. The 15" high transom is modified to 20" with Aluminum materials and painted with the hull colors. When I found the boat it had no signs of big structural repairs. It had a rather large dent on the bow. I patched this and covered it with some white pvc material and added rope chocks. The gel coat finish was very badly oxidized with nornal scratches and dings and dents. There were a few modifications that needed to be undone. I believe the rub rail was original and is still in good shape The steering hub is original, new wire rope, stainless steering wheel, and Volmouth stainless steel pulleys as upgrades. The interior wood is what I was given. The side console and part of one siderail are the original mohagany and are rough. I added the swivel seats and pedistal. Yes the interior is ugly, but quite sturdy and functional for my lake fishing and are very low maintenance. Don't stop reading! I will include all the African Mohogany needed to build a complete "original design" interior. Don't ask how much I paid for the wood. I was going to finish it up before trying to sell the boat but I want to spend my time on the Montauk. So I decided to let the next owner finish the interior - their way. Some like varnish, some like epoxy, perhaps you have a different interior layout in mind -- You decide. The A The tilting trailer was custom built for this boat. It has led light bulbs, fresh wheel bearings, Bearing Buddies and Spindo Seals. I will include a new pair of springs that I have clamped up for welding into an adjustable axle cradle. The small wheels and a walk board make one person launcing and retreival very easy. The package is light and trails effortlessly at highway speeds. Low tounge weight make it compact car friendly. One person can move it around easily. I'll bet you are wondering why I haven't mentioned the year of the boat. Well - my SC title shows the boat is a 1971. During restoration I uncovered the true serial number which my online researh says it was actually built in 1965. Truly a classic Whaler. See photo taken during restoration. The rig will come fully equipt and ready to fish. All the usual gear - lake anchor, line, battery, fuel tank and line, pfd's, rod holders, etc. The depth sounder and tranducer are NOT included. I will consider selling just the boat and traler separately - I have buyers begging me for the motor. I have an older 18 HP Evinrude that is also listed on eBay than can power thie boat. I have two Whalers -- this one is seriously for sale -- talk to me!
