1987 Boston Whaler Mischief

This is arguably one of the coolest boats Boston Whaler ever made. With its low profile and aerodynamic styling it is very fast but has the brawn of the 15’ whaler hull. Great ski boat!

I bought this for my wife a few years ago for Valentines Day (it is red!). It has been garage kept all of its life. I think I am the fourth owner. We have owned it for over three years. We love this boat but it is time for it to go to a new home and new owner (that will love it as much as we did).

The gelcoat on the hull is beautiful and original. There is little to no fading. Some small scratches but minor.

The deck has some fade on the diamond plate in the bow (slightly chalky). With the right treatment I am sure it could be made to look new.

There is some slight fade of the gel coat on the two hatch covers on the stern. From five feet you can’t see it but when you get close it is noticeable.

This boat has never seen salt water or sat outside for more than a night. Absolutely no soft spots in the hull, deck, or transom. The deck on the bow is brick solid. I weight 200 pounds and when I walk on it doesn’t even flex. This boat is built like a tank. It is solid, ridged, and a delight to captain.

If waves could complain, they would say “The Boston Whaler Mischief is unrelenting. We give up!”

The boat’s interior is minty. No rips, fade, or tears. Very tasteful. Very comfortable. It is not original to the boat but fits perfectly with the color scheme.

Cosmetically, overall the boat looks like a well kept five year old boat, not a thirty year old boat.

The original 70 hp Yamaha starts immediately and has the throaty rumble of a predator. The balance of weight to power is outstanding. It is like driving a javelin. But, if you find your self in hostile water the predictable 15’ Whaler hull will get you and your loved ones home safe and sound.

The 70 HP oil injected Yamaha engine is immaculate and has had all services done religiously over the years. It is very clean. The hoses are healthy and soft. The battery is fine (but I did buy a brand new battery that will accompany the boat).

It also comes with two spare propellers. The paint on the engine is very good. No corrosion. The decals are nice (see pictures). Two original like new 6 gallon Yamaha tanks. Marine (ethanol free) gas only in this boat.

It also has a mint red full mooring cover, a mint factory black cockpit cover, and an optional black Sunbrella sun canopy (for use on those really sunny days!). There is factory carpet for the floors.

It comes on a beautiful Eagle trailer (made in Wyandotte, Michigan). It is a pleasure tow and easy to back up. It is in great shape and ready to haul anywhere. There are a few surface scratches in the paint. Nothing glaring. All the lights function as they should. The winch and hitch look near new. The tires show little wear (85% left). The spare tire is mint. It takes a 2" ball.

I tried to describe our Mischief accurately. I would rather under-describe our boat and have the buyer delighted at having their expectations exceeded (than “doll up” an item and have the bidder disappointed). This boat is for sale locally and the auction may end early.

This is a no reserve auction. I require a down payment of $500.00 at auction end. I have clear and clean titles for everything.

I will accompany you to the local bank of your choice for a cashier’s check. There we can do the title transfer with a notary.

This a “local pick up” only transaction. The summer schedule is a bit rough for us but I am sure you will want your Mischief for August.

The boat is in North Olmsted, Ohio, 44070 (a west-side suburb of Cleveland, Ohio)

Pick up can be:

1). Wednesday July 25th, 2017

2). Thursday July 26th, 2017

3). Tuesday August 1st, 2017

Beyond these dates we can work something out. We have vacation we are working through.
