1998 Bayliner 2452 Express Cruiser outboard conversion Mercury Black Max 200.
Excellent condition 1998 Bayliner 2452 Express cruiser with a very well documented outboard conversion. Fully sorted out and ready to go with dual axle 6000lb trailer in great shape. Also includes the built in Garman GPSMAP 740S and VHF radio. The outboard is a 1995 Black Max 200 2.5L offshore. It was completely stripped and rebuilt. The rebuild was beyond complete and all that remains from the old motor is the carbs, crank, flywheel, starter, bracket, some odds and ends, and a few connecting rods. The engine is basically new including a brand new complete block assembly, pistons, bearings, heads, electronics, lower leg, basically everything! The oil injection works as it should. It is a typical carbureted lack Max; lots of power for the weight and easy to work on. A little smoky upon startup but runs very strong and sounds mean out of the water! The bracket is a Moby Cool over-the-hole bracket and is rated for 250hp. The stern drive hole was glassed in and gel coated in several layers. Custom, very stout internal structural supports mount directly to the original motor mounts. The boat cruises comfortably at 25-30 mph, trolls along at 2000 rpm, tops out around 35, and gets around 2.3mpg at cruise. The motor tilts fully out of the water and requires almost no service (the entire point of all this work!). It has a fridge, stove, and microwave. The best way to appreciate this boat is to watch the YouTube conversion walkthrough and running videos (the videos are from last year, a few things have changed such as the second swim platform and Tohatsu have been removed – also see below for 2017 additions).

Again, the dash has completely been rebuilt this year and doesn’t look like that outdated dash anymore.
This is not an amateur built boat, it was built by a manufacturing engineer with attention to detail. It is well thought out, completely gone through, and works as it should. It’s ready to go and includes all safety equipment. It has ~36 hours on it and counting and has never let me down right from the first sea trial. We thought we would use it as an overnight sleeper but we don’t.
***Looking to downsize and would consider a trade or partial trade for something a little smaller (outboards only).
***Will also consider a trade for a sailboat of any size.
Title for trailer and boat in hand and clear of any liens. Will deliver on the trailer to MA or RI for a fee. Will help you motor to a port in MA or RI if you like (weather permitting). Otherwise you must haul it yourself.
**Note, all pictures are from this year except for the pictures of the motor being hung; that is from 2016 to show the motor details (check out the new powerhead). The dash picture was a work in progress picture**
Make a reasonable offer. ALL offers will be considered.
