Description

Offered for your consideration is a 1987 Bayliner 3270 Motoryacht. I have just purchased this boat for resale in Southeastern Connecticut. The boat was well loved by it's previous owner who spent a significant amount of money maintaining and upgrading her. The long term owner was a doctor who stated that the boat was enjoyed mostly at the marina dock and not often used. It was always boatyard maintained at a high end marina. I have just completed a 3 hour cruise on the boat at 3000+ RPMs bringing it to my marina in Old Saybrook, CT and the engines ran beautifully. The operating temperatures remained low in the 140 degree range and oil pressures were 80 psi at 3000 rpm. The transmissions shift smoothly and run quietly with no noises or whining. The boat ran smooth with no vibrations whatsoever. I really loved the dual steering stations. When the weather gets snotty, the lower station in the main salon is quite welcoming. The engines are closed cooling with antifreeze running through heat exchangers and the engine blocks rather than salt water. The exhaust manifolds and risers have been replaced within the last 8 years. The engines are not equipped with hour meters, but judging from the condition of the boat, are relatively low. The fuel tanks are aluminum and are in good condition. The tanks are located outboard of the engines under the cockpit gunwhales and are easily accessible. All canvas and upholstery is new. The boat is fitted with a new Captain's Navy Sunbrella Bimini Top and full 1 inch thick walled tube stainless steel frame with all stainless fittings. There is a new matching Sunbrella fitted flybridge cover, windshield cover, and rear cockpit cover. The exterior cockpit coaming and flybridge cushions (with the exception of the helm seat) have been newly redone in white with navy trim. The salon settee cushions and curtains are all new with matching navy blue print and stripes. the décor is very tasteful and quite classy. The forward vee-birth and aft cabin queen bed have new foam and new navy blue upholstery. The previous owner spent almost $7,000.00 for the canvas and upholstery work just last season. All of the boat's headliner and bulkhead fabrics are in excellent shape and show no signs of wear, fading or staining. There is no evidence of water leakage from the decks or hull fittings anywhere. The galley is equipped with a large propane stove and oven, a microwave, working refrigerator, and pressurized water sink faucet. The countertops are a dated mauve, but oddly enough, are not offensive. The boat has all teak trim and cabinetry which actually compliments the countertops. Worst case, thin melamine sheet material may be easily and inexpensively used to cover the mauve counters and settee table top. Teak and Holly decks are fitted in the lower level galley and under the settee. These show nicely, but are not perfect with some discoloring. The teak trim shows dry and slightly discolored in areas. It's simple to clean and oil so that all appears uniform. Will try to move ahead with cleaning this week. Otherwise, all interior trim is in excellent condition. The hull and superstructure are in excellent condition with no signs of scrapes or damage at all. The bow pulpit and swim platform are solid, the rub rail is clean and undamaged, and the bow rail is perfect. There are only a few minor gelcoat stress cracks on the foredeck and gunwhales. The aft cockpit has moderate gelcoat cracks around the engine hatches, very common for these boats. This area is normally covered by cockpit carpeting. There are no soft spots on the decks. The shore power cord is included and the boat may run off 30 amp AC shorepower or DC Batteries. While on shorepower, the electric forced air heating units really warm the boat nicely. In addition, the previous owner fitted the rear bulkhead with a home style window air conditioner enabling enjoyable hot Summer days and nights on board. The boat is really in beautiful condition, but does have some needs to upgrade it to Bristol condition. 1. The flybridge is missing its plexiglass windshield. I have seen these boats fitted with full flybridge enclosures and the windshield removed. I assume this was the case here. Although there is no flybridge enclosure, clear vinyl windows can easily be made to fit the new bimini top. 2. The fly bridge and lower helm station gear shift cables are a bit tight. They function fine, but are tied together and will need to either be lubricated or replaced. The throttle controls are fine. 3. The flybridge helm station is missing its lower cabinet doors. Replacements may be easily reconstructed of smoked plexiglass or varnished marine plywood. 4. There are no electronics on the boat. The new owner will need to outfit. 5. The rear cockpit teak has been protected with Cetol Marine finish, but the lower cabin side trim pieces are dry rotted and will require attention. This is a very easy plywood trim replacement of a triangular piece on each side. 6. The aft cabin interior carpet appears stained likely caused by bilge water. There is a shallow section of bilge below this stateroom which has apparently wet this carpet on occasion throughout the years. It may respond well with a good carpet cleaning, but may require replacement. The area is less than 10 square ft. 7. The navy blue hull striping on the flybridge and cabin sides is faded and cracking. Exact replacements may be obtained from Bayliner or may easily be reproduced. 8. The cockpit wet bar sink is missing its faucet. All plumbing is in place. A new faucet will need to be purchased and installed. The Powerboat Guide describes the Bayliner 3270 as a "well designed family cruiser with a pleasing profile. She features a practical and roomy interior with a private midships stateroom tucked below the salon dinette." This boat has two staterooms with queen births and may sleep two additional in the main salon when the table is dropped. She is offered for sale in true auction fashion with a $1 opening bid and no reserve. The book value is $20K. Please understand that this is a very nice honest boat and a very comfortable and roomy live aboard if one should desire. I have tried to be as honest and forthright as possible in my representation of this Bayliner. The boat is in the water and may be shown and sea trialed within the next few weeks until the engines must be winterized. I will happily work with the winning bidder to prepare the boat for shipping or winterizing, or will secure very reasonable haul out and winter storage at a local marina if you desire to wait until Spring before moving. A $1000 deposit is required upon completion of this auction. I want to sell this boat to a happy buyer. I do not want you to feel pressured or uncomfortable in any way. If you win the bidding and choose not to complete your purchase after seeing the boat in person or having a survey completed, I will refund your deposit money and there will be no hard feelings. Please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions or to schedule an appointment to see the boat. Please see my feedback rating and bid with confidence. Thank you for your interest, Rich 860-575-1922
