Baja 232 BOSS
Description
Loaded and in beautiful condition with classic colors and hull design that won’t look dated. The graphics in the hull are in-laid in the gel coat. Many significant upgrades for reliability and performance have been made including closed cooling, Arizona Speed & Marine performance system, and performance exhaust. Used in fresh water. Has high quality custom full cover and stored in heated garage. We have owned the boat since July, 2006. We have not had the opportunity for use recently with our family increasing and due to work, but has current registration. Now with the birth of our 4th son nearing, the wife wants the boat to grow tires for another large family vehicle. I am very sad to have to move this along. I have documentation files on all parts purchased. Boat has been loved and maintained by experienced family boating owner/operator. Easily trailerable, reliable, fast and fun! Clear title and owned outright. 382 Hours. NADA on this boat is over $27,000 and not inclusive of all the options here. ENGINE (SN: 0L611326)454 MAG Big Block Mercruiser ENGINE (385HP stock plus modifications).Eddie Marine EMI-512 Thunder Exhaust System (aluminum powder coat lowers and separate stainless steel risers). Water cannot back flush into engine exhaust with these (big killer of marine engines)!CORSA Captain’s Call / Silent Choice electric ‘switchable’ stainless exhaust give incredible sound above water or family friendly silence through prop. New exhaust/water 4 in. hose.Arizona Speed and Marine ‘Super Tune Kit’ (25-30HP adder) # MAGHPSTK. Includes MSD 6M-2 Ignition, remapped ECU (Code EBC4, AS&M Cal # 454Mag7HQ4SA9), adjustable fuel regulator (50-55 psi setting), and high flow intake Flame Arrestor (used K&N for closed cooling clearance).Performance Ignition: spark plugs, Mallory Marine 8mm wires, MSD distributor cap and rotor, MSD Blaster Coil.MEFI 4 ECU mounted to transom away from engine heat and vibration. ECU harness extended with ‘Painless Performance XL’ high heat wiring, Deutsch connectors, and new J1 / J2 Packard connectors. Those of you who have gone through an ECU failure expense know what this is worth!Fuel system upgrade including a high pressure BOSCH fuel pump with custom water cooling coil, billet 100 micron fuel filter and secondary PermaCool fuel-water separator, hi-flow Arizona Speed and Marine fuel cooler and adjustable fuel regulator. Fuel Pressure now set up as a pressure system just after the fuel tank vs. a vacuum system at the engine. This has ELIMINATED vapor lock starting issues so common with these hull designs. The factory fixes just didn’t work...San Juan Engineering and Manufacturing #MC-330 premium closed-cooling System (engine block and manifolds are cooled by anti-freeze vs. dirty raw lake water. Heat exchanger cools anti-freeze with lake water.). Allows engine to run clean and stable at stable 160 deg F temp and total freeze protection as well as keeps contaminates and corrosion from inside your engine. This is also a huge plus if you ever feared losing your raw water pump impellor rubber veins and pumping your engine dry of coolant!Sherwood raw (lake) water strainer and Mercruiser water backflow preventer valve.Engine cooling water flush system that connects directly to garden hose and bypasses outdrive water pickup. This also allows for running the engine on a hose out of the lake without having to use problematic outdrive ‘muffs’.Dual Optima Gel Marine batteries with switch stored with battery tender. NOTE: My battery tender just died while on the back battery and seems to have taken it out. I have not been able to restore the voltage in the AGM battery using the recommended Optima procedures. The front battery is fine.On Board ‘SEA-FIRE’ 150 cu ft. automatic fire suppression system with indicator.Replaced wear parts: Engine cooling water pump, outdrive raw water pick-up impellor pump, starter and cables, Ignition components and serpentine belt. The drive hub was also just replaced due to a ticking noise heard while idling. Frank’s Marine in Berlin Lake (30 yr business) completed the work using Mercruiser parts. The remaining drive bearings/parts were inspected and lubricated and given a clean bill of health. See pic.Mercruiser #32-865281A02 engine oil drain line from oil pan to transom plug. This allows you to do a full oil change with controlled drainage in a hose though the transom plug (vs. pumping out pan through the dip stick).Runs with Mercruiser synthetic oil. Fresh oil and K&N Filter.OUTDRIVE (SN: 0L747376)Mercruiser Bravo One (with 1.50 ratio per Mercruiser). Model 5C31200LS.25 pitch Mercury Marine Mirage Plus Stainless Steel Prop. Reworked by BBlades in Wisconsin to handle higher horse power of modifications and prevent blade cavitation. Upgrade from original 23 pitch Mirage.Warlock drive cooler.Gimbal bearing and Universal joint just inspected and lubricated.HULL (SN: AGC32020H900)Top quality custom made cover from ‘Weather MAX X-treme Outdoor Performance Fabric’ and further sewn with ‘SolarFix PTFE’ synthetic thread to prevent rotted threads.Snap in Marine Carpet over fiberglass liner. Carpet always removed to dry after use.Drop-down stand-up bolster seats and power lift rear sundeck in classic colors.Neutral color cuddie cabin with couch, bed and port-a-pot (only used once but may keep that just because… $75-$100 through Cabela’s). Plenty of under-pad storage for life jackets, etc.Cuddy CO detector.Cuddy fans and lights.Halogen docking lights.Richie liquid dash compass.Humming Bird Depth Sounder.Gaffrig sport gauges with anodized bezels.Pass-through windshield.Stainless steel rub rail.Stainless steel pop-up tie-up cleats.Stainless ladder stowed under swim platform with stainless keeper lanyard.Bow anchor with storage compartment.Fresh Water tank with pressurized transom sprayer head. Has new on demand pump, relay and hosing. I did not like the way Baja tied it in originally.Transom switch to ‘trailer-up’ outdrive from outside boat. Very handy.Marine Jensen CD stereo with weather channel, removable face and 4 Clarion speakers. Dual ram Insta-Trim trim tabs with indicators. New Boat Leveler Insta-Trim hydraulic hose # 12728 changed throughout system. The termination clamping points of the hoses at the pump and cylinders commonly split and were starting to leak so they were all changed.Always docked using a ‘HULL HUGR’ full length side bumper pad by Kwik Tek. Bumpers, Ropes, and life jackets do not go with the boat.TRAILEREagle tandem axle trailer with surge brakes.Stainless bow step. Very handy to easily step from trailer tongue up onto bow of boat during drop and loading.Aluminum wheels with good tires.Spare tire and bracket.Guide-on trailering load posts.New Titan Model 60 Surge brake master cylinder coupler, brake back plate assemblies and wheel cylinders, brake line and seals and wheel bearings. A wheel cylinder seal failed and contaminated the system with water so I had to replace parts.New winch strap.Safety cables show corrosion but have just been replaced with new ones.KNOWN ISSUESUnder heavy chop, the lid came off a stored potable water treatment bottle and bleached the cuddie carpet as shown. You can use a matching fabric dye or swap the carpet patch from a match under the cushions. The boat has been gone over cosmetically to fix any small marks by a reputable fiberglass marine shop in Tallmadge, OH. There is one dock scratch that has been present in the yellow and blue in-hull graphics since purchase. We decided not to have this fixed at this point due to match and location. There was a nick in the BAJA hull graphic so we had both scripts changed. These scripts are the only graphics that are vinyl. See Pics. The sun deck is fiberglass but Baja used a wood tack strip to staple the vinyl down. There are some spots where this tack strip has broken down around the deck. See pics.Dual ram Insta-Trim trim tabs. Tabs function fine however one of the starboard cylinder seals is starting to leak slightly. The Trim tab indicator has also stopped functioning and believe it is the cylinder pickup. Parts and full kits for this system available on ebay for very reasonable money. Some paint nicks with rust spots on the trailer. There are NO rust integrity issues.Dual Optima Gel Marine batteries with switch stored with battery tender. The battery tender just died while on the back battery and seems to have taken it out. I have not been able to restore the voltage in the AGM battery using the recommended Optima procedures. The front one is fine.I can be reached at 330-608-5984 with additional questions if you like. I can also send you a video of the boat running. $100 deposit due within 24 hours of Auction end. Inspection prior to sale is welcome. Also published on eBay.
